🗣️There’s No Wrong Time for Newborn Photos
One of the questions I get asked most often is some version of “is it too late?” Maybe baby is already three weeks old. Maybe life got busy and it’s been closer to two months. I always tell families the same thing, there is no wrong time frame for newborn photos.
Some families love the tiny, curled-up, sleep-through-anything look of the first one to two weeks. Others end up scheduling their session closer to one, two, or even three months in. Those sessions have their own kind of magic. By two or three months, babies start holding their heads up a little, their eyes are more alert, and you start catching glimpses of real personality. Neither version is more “correct” than the other. The best time for your newborn session is whenever life actually allows for it.
This particular mommy and me session happened when baby was right around six weeks old past the typical “newborn window” some photographers insist on, and honestly, all the better for it. Mom had a little more energy, baby was a little more alert, and the whole morning felt relaxed instead of rushed.
Why at home // natural environment
Doing a session at home can made all the difference. Baby was already comfortable in familiar surroundings. Mom not having to pack a bag and load up a baby for a drive across town in those early months was its own kind of gift.
A Few Tips for Your Own Mommy and Me Session
If you’re considering a mommy and me session of your own in Senoia, here’s what worked well,
- Book it early, but stay flexible. Newborn sessions are best scheduled in the first one to two weeks, but there is no wrong way on the timeframe.
- Keep it simple. A neutral outfit for mom, something that feels comfortable and allows for movement. A plain swaddle (light color like cream or white) onesie for baby that fits. Simple is best.
- Plan for breaks. Newborns set the schedule. Time for feeding, soothing, and diaper changes keeps the session calm instead of rushed.
